Counseling For Anxiety

West Chester, Ohio

The unfortunate consequences of anxious thoughts (besides the fear they ignite and the unpleasant symptoms which follow suit) is the doubt and shame they lead to.

Do you find yourself overthinking, worrying about what others think of you, constantly seeking out reassurance from others, avoiding certain people and situations, or passing along the responsibility of making decisions? Anxiety has a way of taking away our confidence, our ability to be present and making us feel as though we can’t possibly trust our own intuition.

As we work together in counseling for anxiety, we will uncover your unhelpful self-talk while using the power of neuroscience to transform your thinking in order to improve your self-confidence. This, along with harnessing the wonder of Mindfulness, identifying your strengths and values and cultivating self-compassion, you will learn to improve your self-confidence while you begin to feel more present in all aspects of your life.

You can expect a therapeutic mix of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and other Evidence-Based strategies proven to decrease your anxiety.

It is my true honor to provide a safe space for you to talk openly about your experiences while learning to show love to yourself.

Anxiety and Self-Confidence

Anxiety comes in many shapes and sizes, but some general themes tend to include perfectionism, intrusive thoughts, overthinking, muscle tension, sweating, upset stomach, headaches, constant worries and difficulty with feeling present in daily life. Maybe you fear something is wrong with you for having these thoughts or symptoms. Perhaps you even wish you could get rid of your anxiety altogether since it seems to be destructive to living your most authentic life.

What if I told you that these anxious thoughts, and the physical discomfort you experience while anxious, are actually perfectly normal responses to real or perceived threats? The uncomfortable symptoms of anxiety stem from your body’s built-in protective response, and they each have their own very important role to play when we are in immediate danger. The problem we find ourselves with is that regardless of if we are in immediate danger, or if we simply fear social rejection, the body will respond just the same and it will conjure all those unpleasant symptoms of anxiety as it does so.

Counseling for anxiety will help you to gain an understanding of how the body works to protect you which can have a powerful impact on the way you view, not only your anxiety, but also how you view yourself.

Throughout your time in counseling, we will work together identify why you feel anxiety, how anxiety has been impacting your life, and how to implement simple and effective techniques, routines and other strategies to find lasting anxiety relief.

Ultimately, therapy shouldn’t be a mystery to you. As we work together, you will learn how anxiety relief strategies work for you so you can leave therapy feeling confident and in control, no matter what life throws your way.
